British author publishes book entitled “An Ethiopian
Odyssey”
Addis Ababa - Annette Allen, a
British author who was a student of the Nazareth School here
in Addis Ababa some 40 years ago, published a book in a bid
to raise funds for the execution of potable water, sanitation,
and humanitarian interventions in Ethiopia and the Middle
East.
The new non-fiction book entitled “An
Ethiopian Odyssey” was launched here at Nazareth School
yesterday in the presence of President Girma Wolde-Giorgis.
Every five pound sterling of the unit
price of the book, which is 18 pound sterling, would be donated
to different humanitarian organizations for the same cause.
The 270- page book depicts the ‘memoir
of friends-reunited story’ about nine classmates of
the author in Nazareth School indicating what has happened
to them during the last 40 years since the author’s
departure in July 1964.
The book also incorporated interviews
of four school friends as to how their lives were affected
by political events in Ethiopia and elsewhere during the reported
time.
Hirut Girma, daughter of President Girma
Wolde-Giorgis who died in 1978, was also the school friend
of the author. Genet Girma told the story of her sister to
the author.
Annette traveled 25, 000 miles to collect
the data before writing the book.
